Spring Wreath

Spring in New England! If you live here, you know that it is a very unpredictable season. You can wake up to either a snowstorm or a beautiful sunny day. Give me the sunny day! We have been enjoying a few days of gorgeous weather. Seems like just last week I was up to my ankles in water in the basement. Oh, that was last week!

It was time to put up my spring wreath! It has been good to me over the past few years. No need to buy a new one! I just added this cute little garden lady. I bought her at The Dollar Store a few weeks ago. I have not done anything as far as crafting is concerned, since the basement flooding. I was in the middle of a spring project that I will hopefully share this week.

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful spring day.
It is raining here today, but I won't complain about it.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for all your thoughtful comments on my blog yesterday. When I wrote that post we had over 6 inches of water in the basement and the weather had been gloomy for days and I was having a small pity party for myself. Others in the area were not so lucky. They are still at shelters and have not even begun to deal with their water problems. The dumpster is here and now we are in the middle of cleaning the basement of over 26 years of what should have been tossed long ago! The water is almost gone and the sun has been shining for two days. Things are looking up again.
Thank you all for those thoughtful comments!

Water, A Beautiful Sight

This is a picture of Block Island, a small island off the coast of my home state Rhode Island. It is beautiful. However, water is not beautiful when it is in your basement. That is what we found in our basement today. It has been a very rainy month of March! We have been in this house for over 26 years, we have never had any water. Now, we are calling for a dumpster. Most of what was down in the basement has been lost. Talk about being forced into spring cleaning! Oh and I should mention that a tree uprooted in our yard and caused us and others to be without electricity for more than 12 hours last night and into the morning! That was fun! And not to mention we lost an hour, but with the day we are having maybe one less hour of it is not a bad thing. I always say, worse things can happen and they have. The water is being hosed out the front door and down the street. Let's just say crafting is on the back burner! That said, I hope the stove still works!

White Tank Top

I was at Ann Taylor Loft right after Christmas. They had already started putting out their spring clothes. As tempted as I was to buy their white tank top with blue yo-yos, I knew it would be on sale soon. Then I thought I could try and make one, so last night I did.
I had a white tank from last summer, leftover blue fabric and a bottle of tacky glue. It came out rather cute. I may try to make one in another color. I made this tank just like the Ann Taylor Loft version , but I am tempted to make another one and add a few buttons and maybe a few green leaves, too.

Here is the ATL shirt. It started out at $25 and is now on sale for $15.

Four Things I Love

One of my favorite bloggers, "A Little Birdie Told Me So" had a post about four things she was loving right now. She tagged everyone to list four things that we were loving right now. Right now and for the past few months I have started my day off with a bowl of hot oatmeal. I like to add jam, peanut butter, granola, bananas and chocolate chips to my oatmeal. But not all at once! On most days it's just a bit of jam!

The first thing I do when I go downstairs is make a fresh pot of coffee in my french press.
For years, I struggled with making coffee in a drip coffee maker. I mean my coffee was horrible! I have been using a french press for about three years now and loving it!

This is the magazine that is inspiring me right now! Love, love, love it!

I saw this red Jessica Simpson bag at Macy's last Monday. It was on sale, but still I just could not justify buying it. I went back Friday and it was still there. I really loved it and I never buy an expensive bag, until last Friday. To me it is a year round bag and I love the color red for summer. I am really loving this bag!
What are you loving right now?

Green, again!

Okay, another green craft, I can not seem to stop making things from brown bags. I am a big fan of gift cards, I like to give them and also receive them! Making these cards, I could do a little paper crafting and a little sewing. The best of both worlds!

There was a scrap of paper leftover, so I made a cute little handle!
Now, I have to wait for a special occasion to buy a gift card!

100 % Recycled

If I forget to bring my own bag when I go shopping, I will ask for a brown bag if the store offers them. I am glad I had a few at home after I bought the "Green Craft" magazine.

I made this gift bag from the brown bag pictured above. At first, I was going to hide the black lettering, but after looking at it, I like how it looked peeking over the top.

Could every day be my special day?

Still loving the birds and running out of brown bags!
