(Antique store front Putnam, CT)
My daughter was on vacation last week and on her to-do list was a little antiquing/junking. She recently moved into a new apartment. It is in the same building, just four doors down from her old apartment. Let's just say it was a very easy move. The building is a newly renovated old mill with loft style units. I think it has inspired her decorating style.
I forgot to take pictures of everything she bought! She had a very productive day. Isn't that always the way? When you bring your camera you are too caught up in the moment to take pictures. And when you do not bring your camera you are kicking yourself! But, what we have here is a green lamp, a green tin basket and a rusted magazine holder.
I cleaned the inside with warm soapy water! Then gave it a coat of clear spray. It now sits on a metal cart in the apartment and has become a utility box holding a few tools and candles.
My father's hobby is antiquing. Even though he has had a booth in Putnam for years I really had no reason to go there. I always had the first look at most of his pieces. But after a little searching in the shops, we found my father's space. He likes to make lamps! My daughter liked the brass vase on the top shelf. After a quick call to Grandpa, she walked out of the shop with the vase, free of charge, of course!
Antiquing is hard work, we needed lunch! I had heard about a nice cafe called "The Vanilla Bean" in Pomfret, Ct. It was about five minutes west of Putnam. Let's see if we could find it and we did! Did you ever think you could find directions on a cell phone? I love progress!
I ordered chili and I was not disappointed. I love the presentation. I did some research and the restaurant has the recipe on their website. I will definitely be making it.
We had a nice day! My daughter would like to make it a monthly event! She inherited the antiquing gene and my father is very happy about that!
Thanks for visiting!
