These pretty purple flowers grow on the side of the house that we seldom use before summertime. By the time we open the pool, they are long gone! I was meeting a friend Friday night, so I decided to pick a bunch to give to her. I put them in a simple mason jar and added blue food coloring to the water. The bird picks I made have come in pretty handy, I need to make more! However, not today! We are having a beautiful spring day in Rhode Island and I am typing this on the deck under a beautiful blue sky listening to some music and oh yes, the neighbor's rooster that crows from sunrise to sunset! But, I don't mind!

What a clever idea to put food coloring in the water.
We had a neighbor that had a rooster, they had to get rid of it because of the zoning laws...it used to bother everyone with it's crowing but not me...I loved it! I grew up on a farm so it was a comfort for me to hear it.
Enjoy that RI weather, we are getting some pretty sunny days here on the West Coast as well!
Your friend is lucky! Love the little gift of flowers!
Adding food coloring to the water is such a festive idea!
My Mom puts food coloring in a lot of vases, I can not take credit for this idea!
Love your new blog layout!
LOVE the flowers as well. What a great gift to greet a friend with!
Adding food colouring to vase water. I never heard of that but now that I have I think its a very good idea and will be "borrowing" it, hope you don't mind. I am envious that you hear a rooster crowing, I would love that!
