There is a cute little store down by the beach, that is what we call the Atlantic Ocean here in Rhode Island. I can say, that I rarely hear someone ask , do you want to go to the ocean today? Back to the cute little store. I found this sign there the other day it really sums up how I feel most of the time. I love my little world, thanks for being part of it!

Pretty Coasters

I have a book, full of pretty pictures of flowers. I bought it last year, knowing I could use the pictures for crafting. I have not been disappointed whenever I have used the pictures, they are outstanding.

Lately, almost every gift shop I go to, I see a lot of coasters. I had a few unused tiles and a few minutes, let's see how the tiles and the flower pictures would look like together? Well, I think I went a little overboard the past few days. I made quite a few, I love them. How many coasters can I use? Not this many! So, I have decided to make them for Christmas gifts.

I wasn't sure how the white flower would look, but I love it!

I backed them with some leftover cork I had from a previous project.

I will let you know how I package them.
I was thinking about a set of four, wrapped in pretty ribbon!

How sweet it Is

Saturday morning I baked a chocolate cake. Lately, I have been making cakes from scratch, but time was of the essence and luckily I had a cake mix and can of frosting in my pantry. The plain frosted cake looked just fine, but why not give it a little something extra. I shaved a bit of chocolate from a Snickers candy bar, then cut what was left of the bar into pieces and placed the pieces on a dollop of chocolate frosting. All in all I think it cost $3.50. Quite a savings over a store bought cake. I hope you enjoyed the cake Kyle. Happy 21st!

I bought a new stack of printed paper last week. I love this blue paper. It has a beach like feel to it, that I really love. The little brown bird notebook is a gift for my daughter's friend. She turned 21 this week, happy birthday Cassie.

This bookmark is for friend who happens to be vacationing on Martha's Vineyard. How lucky is she? I will get there someday and I know I will find time to do a little reading. Maybe I should make the bookmark now. That way I will have to go!
I hope you are enjoying your summer, no matter where you are.

Room with a View

It has been very hot and sunny the past few days. I had to move a lot of my plants under this umbrella. They seem to need constant watering and a few times I have gone outside to find them looking rather sad. The shade will be just what they need. They looked so pretty from the dining room window. I think I may keep them right there!

For the love of Harry!

Saturday my daughter went to a Harry Potter Party. There was no real reason for the party. Just Harry Potter fans, getting together to have a little fun. Online, she found a site that had Harry Potter inspired foods. We made these cute little cookies.
I think Harry looks adorable.

The other characters were a challenge. But as a group they look rather sweet.

Stay cool!

Rusty Garden Fixtures

I did not plan to put all these rusted animals in my garden, it just sort of happened. The rooster was the first one to find a home there. I bought this owl last week at Marshall's. I did not realize, until I got it home that it was actually a watering can.

This little rooster can also hold a small candle.

This, is just a plain old rooster.

I bought three of these sea turtles last winter at Pier One, they look so cute in the ground cover.
Now, I am hooked and I look for little rusted animals to put in my garden!

Saturday in Newport

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
The weather here has been wonderful for the past few days.
This was taken in my garden a few weeks ago. The chair has been in our family for years, it is not safe to sit in, but looks beautiful with this little plant! I just love the blue green color.
We are off to spend the day in Newport, RI today.
Again, have a wonderful weekend!

Journal

A good friend of mine well, my bff, can people in there 40's say that? Sure we can, we can say anything! Back to my original thought, she mentioned that she wanted to start keeping a journal, keep track of everyday things. I thought to myself, I can help her with that! I have so many composition notebooks that I could easily make her 20. But, I think one is a good start.

You know, I had to use a few buttons! I am not sure why I am using butterflies so often but, they do look pretty! My friend, she likes the glitter! So, I give her glitter! It is beginning to grow on me, too.

I guess I just did not want to finish this little project. Why not throw in a bookmark for good measure! I think it adds that little something. I guess the glitter was not enough!

It was another gloomy day when I took these pictures, the book is bright and cheerful!
However, our lawn looks fantastic with all the rain!

Simple Words

A favorite blogger of mine, had this little message at the end of one of her posts last week. It has become part of a little journal that I am making. Thank you, Berlin Deluxxe for letting me use your words, I find them to be very true indeed.

More Paper CD Holders

Last week during one of our rainy days, I made four more country CDs. Little gifts for my friends who went to the concert with me last Sunday. I like making the paper holders. They are small and really do not require much thinking! I like sewing the borders, adds a little something. It also keeps my sewing machine from getting rusty. I haven't been doing much sewing lately.
I wasn't quite sure of the red glitter, but I like it.

I like picking out the colors. Mixing and matching, or not matching!

Blue and red together, one of my favorite combinations!

Pink and green a classic summer combination.
Gloomy days equal dark pictures, no matter how hard I try to brighten them!
Note to self, wait for a sunny day to take your pictures!

Address Book

I have a before and after for everyone.
Since my daughter is living on her own I thought it would be nice to make her an address book. That way she would be ready to send out a birthday, thank you or Christmas card without having to call me for an address. Not that I mind her calling me, but everyone wants to be organized. Come to think of it I still call my Mom for addresses. I need to update my address book! I am in desperate need of organization. Crafter and organization just do not seem to go together!
This is the before, I bought it at Marshall for $1.00!

You know how we love the owls in our family. I will admit they are beginning to grow on me, too.

The book was lacking a little color. Why not add three little cute red hearts!
The picket fence was an after thought. The sign is covering up a mistake, too much distressing. I got a little carried away with my brown ink pad. Not a bad purchase for $1.00.
We had another gloomy rainy summer day yesterday when I was working on this project.
I may have to wait and take all my pictures on sunny days!
It is beautiful today! I will be outside working in the yard.
That means sitting on a lounge chair with a book and a beverage!
No need to water the plants with all the rain we have been getting!
