Another slightly larger project!

We are in the early stages of redoing our downstairs bathroom. When I say we, I mean trained professionals! I am not included in this group. All I have to do is take pictures of the process. As you can see right now the bathroom is down to the studs. Not a pretty sight, at all! But, I am sure when it is finished it is going to be very nice. At least, I am pretty sure it will. You never know.

I did buy a few plants yesterday, now all I have to do is put them in the containers.

I am working on a small project!

I have to say it feels good to type that!
I hope that the month of May will be a very creative month. Whether it be paper crafting, sewing, planting or just sprucing up the yard, I need to be creative. The past few weeks have been boring! What have I done with my days? I have to get back on track with my resolutions for the year 2010. So far, I have neglected being creative. On the other hand I have cleaned the basement. Though a major flood was the reason for the cleaning, did not see that coming in January when I wrote that on my things to do this year.
I am off to buy more pansies. I bought a few packs a couple of weeks ago and they have made it through a few cold nights. The next few days are going to be more spring like. I need to get out and buy my plants, before everyone else gets spring fever! That does not sounds very nice, but I want my plants! I need to look out the window and see pretty white and purple pansies!

Have you seen my creative side?

It seems that I am going through a creative dry spell. I am not sure why? There is so much inspiration out there! I have all the craft and sewing supplies needed to make almost anything I want. I could make a few cards, bookmarks or a few new journals. I like making those cute market bags. But no, I'm not feeling it. Hopefully, by next week I will have found my creativity, I know it is there! I just have to put the paper on the counter and plug in the glue gun. I could use a new one, my old one is embarrassing. On second thought, it has been good to me, so I am going to keep it.
I am off to do some errands. The weather is still rather cool here. I am behind on my spring flowers. Usually by now I have a few pots filled with pretty pansies. If I don't buy them soon they will be gone. If I buy them now, they may not last in the cool nights! I think I am going to buy a few. The back deck could use a little pick me up.

Strawberry Cake

A birthday would not be a birthday in our house, without a cake made by my mother. Both my daughters love strawberry cake with vanilla frosting. Sweet does not even begin to describe how it tastes. But, it is what they want, year after year, after year! This year I added a little something to the top of the cake, pink chocolate covered strawberries.

Little bits of chocolate and beautiful strawberries, this was our Easter dessert. There was one small piece left, that I wrapped and put in the refrigerator. I have been slicing a bit off everyday. Today, as I write this there is one very small piece left. But not for long! I am watching "Julie and Julie" and for some reason I am getting hungry! It is my second time watching the movie, I like it. It makes me want to take a trip to Paris and I don't really like to travel.

I finished the cake!

Dish Towel

I was finally able to find an hour to make something yesterday. I bought this red and white towel at "The Dollar Store" last week. I thought it would be the right size to make a small bag.

I always have leftover fabric from other projects. I love red and blue together!

I folded the towel in half, cut 2" of the sides to use for straps. Then just sewed up the sides. My daughter would like to learn how to sew, this would be a great first project. It was very easy.
Today is going to be a beautiful day in Rhode Island. High in the 80's. I see a trip to the garden shop to buy a few pansies. I love purple pansies!

Jeans

I wear jeans almost everyday. I am a jeans and tee shirt girl. I throw on a cute sweater, hoop earrings and a few bracelets and I am ready to go! Most of the jeans I have now are a dark wash. I have been looking at these "boyfriend jeans" since January. I like that they can be cuffed for warmer weather or put the cuffs down and I could wear them right now. Two for the price of one! I am trying to come up with a few good reasons to buy them! They are a bit more than I usually like to spend. But, don't they look so comfy! Another reason to buy them, comfort is a must. Well, still not much time for crafting. Between pumping out the water (basement is now dry), Easter and everyday life the glue gun still sits in the drawer. I am thinking maybe Wednesday I could find some free time to make something. I have an idea for a red hand towel I bought at "The Dollar Store".

Wishing you all a happy Easter

Before the storm, I made a few of these cute little chicks for Easter. I found the idea onhttp://creativebreathing.blogspot.com/ she has a wonderful blog full of cute and colorful creations! I planned to give instructions on how to make them, but that will have to wait. I do not have much time today to post all the pictures. The chicks are styrofoam balls cut in half, painted yellow and topped with white glitter. I made this little chick for my Mom to give to a great grand niece with a little something extra tucked into the boxes.

One of these I gave to a friend who was a little overwhelmed with the amount of water in her basement.

These cute little chicks will be the center piece for dinner on Sunday.
I am happy to say the basement is dry! The sun is shinning and I may even wear sandals on Easter. I can finally say that spring is in the air!
I hope that I find my creativity somewhere, I am not sure where it is. I have not touched my glue gun in almost two weeks.
Happy Easter

Water Water Everywhere!

Some of you may know that the New England area has been hit with a record amount of rainfall. This is the of the town of West Warwick, only miles from my house. We have been pumping water out of our basement since Monday and as I write this I have just turned the pumps on again. I am not complaining. I am very fortunate compared to these people. This is the second time in three weeks they have had to deal with this much water. This does not happen in Rhode Island. We have snowstorms and the occasional tropical storm, not flooding like this. The weather forecast is great for the next few days. But as the old saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers," we do not need any more rain! And with the way Mother Nature works we could be in drought conditions in August! That is my post for today! Easter is Sunday, I have nothing! I am making a list and getting it done this morning! Maybe I can return to being creative next week.
