December 26, 2010

Even though I had a lot to do on Christmas Eve I had to make two of these cute paper mouse/mice ornaments. They were on my to-do list with a lot of other things. But, before I put all the paper and glue gun away I had to make them! I am so glad I did, I love them. Paper mice good, real mice not so much!

Let me just show you what has been a major part of my diet over the past two days! What was I thinking when I made these! They are my second favorite cookie! I still love the gingerbread men!

The poinsettia is still looking good!

Ruka , opening his present. I bought him a blinking red light in the shape of a bone. It clips on his collar so when he is over and goes outside at night my daughter can see him! It is so cute!

Christmas night! Some of the bags are full of presents, others are headed to the recycle bins. So much for all the beautifully wrapped gifts. All the paper, bows and name tags are headed to the curb to be collected on Monday.

I received this cute Santa wine bottle stopper a few years ago. Even though I did not have any of this wine, I think I feel the same way as Santa does. Tired, but a good tired. Okay, maybe Santa is not really tired, but I don't judge. Good thing Christmas comes but once a year!

Okay, let's get serious. I am a big Patriots fan (I love Tom Brady) and I am going to be watching football all day today! I will also be eating leftovers, cleaning, maybe seeing what is on sale (internet shopping) and sitting in front of the fireplace. As I type this it is snowing! I hope my day does not involve shoveling! No! No, shoveling for me! That is not how I plan to spend my day!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I will make time to stop by all my favorite blogs this week. I am taking a few days off and I am sure most bloggers are doing the same!
Let it snow!

Merry Christmas 2010

I love all the Christmas cards we receive. But there is just something about this one in particular. It's whimsical and magical!

I wish you all a magical Christmas.

Last Batch

My daughter asked me to make these cookies. They are the last batch that will be made this year. I am so glad I made them, they are so cute! I am not sure how they will taste because I was doing way too many things while baking! Oh well, they look cute and will add a lot of color to my cookie tray!

Green Crafting Again

I forgot I had saved these coffee cup collars. I had a few extra minutes today and my glue gun is always plugged in, so I made a few gift tags. Now, I must get back to the fun of ironing! Don't be jealous, if you want we could share the chore! I will even drive to your house to drop the off the clothes. No, ironing is one chore I like to do! I am not sure why, but I like to iron!

Please, help yourself

Oh, how many treats can you possibly eat over the holidays? I am not sure. There seems to be homemade goodies everywhere I look. It is Christmas and it's what we do. I love to bake and I am guilty of pushing the treats. I am a treat pusher, arrest me. So, please help yourself to a little treat! Do it, do it now!

A Little Tree Update

I really do like my little tree. I made a paper star for the top and a little owl has found a home at the base.

I think he just found out there is only 6 days until Christmas! Calm down, it will all get done and then we will rest for 11 months and do it all over again!

There is a chance we will get some snow on Sunday. We may have a "White Christmas". You never know these storms have a way of going east out into the ocean.

Very Simple

This is a very simple ornament. A clear glass ball filled with white glitter and a little pine branch from the back yard. I am addicted to this red and white ribbon.

Wrapping it Up

Yes, most of the shopping has been done. Now, the fun begins! Or was the fun doing the shopping? Maybe it is both. I like to shop and I like to wrap. This is what I will be doing today. Then it is off to mail a few packages and tonight I will be going out with friends for a little Christmas party.

This was fun

I bought this cookie mix because I like a variety of cookies, but I don't have time to make everything from scratch. The amount of cookies they make is just enough for my family and I always have a few to give away.

I looked forward to decorating them. I had to find a good frosting recipe, one that would harden but still taste good. After two tries I found one that was rather easy and tasted fine.

It took a few cookies before I decided on this cute look. I am now addicted to gingerbread cookies!

I packaged up a few to give to friends and my parents. Now, that I know I like making them and love decorating them I am going to find a better recipe, one from scratch.

Christmas Coffee Cans

I made a few of these papered covered coffee cans a few months ago. I wish I would of made more. I sent this as a little thank you, to my husband's secretary for letting my daughter use her spring form pan. My daughter needed it to make a sugar cookie fruit tart for Thanksgiving. I think she is going to make another for Christmas I will post about it if she does. Everyone loved it!
Is it me or does Santa look like he is running from the law? Good Santa or Bad Santa, I am not quite sure!

Looks like they made it, too!

I do believe that I missed an entire box of Christmas decorations when I was going through all the boxes that were in the basement. I was happy when I opened a box and found these. I made them two years ago and I wish I had time to make a few more. But I am determined to have a stress free holiday season and making these would be asking too much. I already have enough to do. Maybe next year!

I am not sure why he doesn't have a hat. I must of run out of time that Christmas, too. But, being without a hat doesn't mean he has to wait until next year to be seen. Well, maybe I could find a few minutes to make him a hat.

Too cute!

Believe

I love banners! I said it and I mean it. This is a rather simple Christmas banner.

Just a few simple tags that I distressed a bit. I took out my Cricut and cut out a few letters. I forgot how much I like to cover clothespins. They are what holds the tags to the twine. I love the ribbon, so festive! A simple banner with a large message.

A little view of what is on our mantle. I can't believe they made it through the water damage we had in the basement! I was very happy when I opened the box and there they were!

My little tree

We put our Christmas tree in the living room. It looks pretty there. I love looking at the tree at night when I am watching television. But, I spend most of my day on the other side of the house. I wanted to put a small tree in the dining room where I could look at it all day. I have seen quite a few small trees at the supermarkets. They were about $20.00. I was already to buy one when I thought I would take a look outside in the yard to see if I could find one there. I found this cute little tree. I did feel a little sad about cutting it, but I wanted it! I placed a few packages around it (I am going to move the larger ones, it is looking way too cluttered) and saved myself $20.00. The tree needs a little something, maybe a star on the top. I don't think it could support any ornaments. Well, maybe few paper creations.
I am off to do a little shopping.

My go to Christmas movie!

I go a bit overboard watching Christmas movies. I have a few favorites, this is one of them. To tell you the truth it begins at a holiday party and it ends at Christmas the following year. What goes on during the 12 months in between is what the movie is really about. But it has Christmas in the title so I watch it at Christmas. It is my go to Christmas movie. Some of the Christmas movies can be so sad and that is not what I want in a movie. This movie is light hearted and I really love the scenery. Montana is beautiful!
I am off to do a little shopping!

My Christmas Countdown says 17 days

I should really set the calender 2 days ahead. Then, I would have time to enjoy Christmas. But come to think of it. I have decorated the house, tried a new cookie recipe, wrapped quite a few gifts and I have watched a few Christmas specials. I always wait until the last minute to do everything. Wait, I have even addressed my cards! Really? Yes, now where did I put them? This year, I am going to be ready! I am going to be ready! I am going to be ready!

Christmas Cards

With all the crafting I wanted to do for Christmas, I decided not to make cards this year. But then I came across a cute reindeer pattern and before I knew it (a couple of hours) I had made four cards.

These will be sent to a few of my best little friends.

Now all I have to do is sign and mail them!

Snowmen

I bought theses unfinished wooden hearts last year. As usual I ran out of time to make everything I bought. Let me think, maybe I just ran out of energy! But ,this year I have been getting up early to take make sure we have enough ornaments for our tree.
They were easy to paint and cheap! The wooden hearts cost 29 cents! I bought 4 more today. I know big spender. But, I think I can finish four, so why buy more?

It's begining

I am almost finished decorating for Christmas. I bought a lot of floral picks at Jo Ann's today, 60% off already. I just add the picks here and there. All we need now are few poinsettias and a tree. I found this joy banner from last year. I didn't know it was in the basement. I was going to make another one, I am glad I didn't. I guess two joy banners would be okay. You can never have too much joy!

JOY!

I am happy this made it through the flood. I lit the votive candles tonight, it looks very pretty.

Finished

This is a set of magnets that I made for my daughter.
She loves fashion and jewelry. I love fashion, too. However, she works in the fashion world. I would love to be a member of that world. The top magnet is a belt and the bottom magnet is a big and bold ring.

She has just started to bake, another thing we have in common. The top magnet is frosting on a wooden spoon. The bottom one is a clock charm.

She also likes antiques the top magnet is a candle holder on a chandelier. She likes anchors, too. Now, that is just strange. No, not really, the anchor is associated with Rhode Island, "The Ocean State".

Well, that is the start of her set. Let's face it everyone likes magnets! What else would we use to hold up all those important things on our refrigerators?

Glass Magnets

Last year around this time I made a bunch of glass magnets. I really enjoyed making them. They are a very easy project! It does not make a big mess either, always a plus! Monday night I started looking through a few old magazines for small images.
I ran out of glass beads and magnets already. I am off to buy more! I am thinking about making little sets and giving them out as extra Christmas gifts. I really like making them! I hope to post the finished magnets tomorrow.

Let's take a closer look, shall we?

I thought I would share a few closeups from "The Countdown". The snowman is one of my favorites.

Did I mention I like the gingerbread man? I like the stocking, too.

The mitten took on a vintage look. I love blue and brown together.

Let it snow, on the weekend or after I have all my Christmas shopping finished. Who am I kidding? I am usually out getting something on Christmas Eve.

I really enjoyed making this. It is not a hard project, just takes a little time. I have one more to finish before Wednesday. This one should go a little faster, I am going to use the same images. I am in a crafty mood! Must be all the fun Christmas ideas I put in my favorites. Hopefully, I will be making a lot of things this week.
