Hot Summer Nights

I can not begin to tell you how much I enjoy being outside on a hot summer night. Last night was no exception. I light candles, put on a few outside lights, grab a book, my glasses (can not read with out them) and a beverage! Sometimes, I even listen to the Red Sox on the radio. Go Sox!

I bought these lanterns at a local discount store for $5.oo a piece back in February. That was a quite a bargain! The candles are flame less, they run on batteries. They still have a nice glow to them and are very safe next to the house.

I love this sun! It is very durable, it made it through a cold New England winter and still looks new!

Concrete Rabbit

Some of my flowers made it through all the rainy gloomy days we had here in Rhode Island. I am happy to report this little "window box" is doing great!

Today while I was leaving my parents house I grabbed this little guy from their porch. He is a cute little rabbit made from concrete. He has a little moss on him, which I really like. I did not steal the rabbit, I did ask first.

There are a few more rabbits at my parents house. Should I get a few more? I think, yes.
However, all is not perfect. While taking these pictures I was stung by a bee!
20 minutes and an a few ice cubes later I am feeling a little better.

Paper CD Holder

Sunday night I went with five friends to The Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts to see Toby Keith, Trace Adkins and opening act Sean Patrick Mc Graw. Since my sister-in-law was nice enough to pick me up and bring me pack home , I thought I would make her a CD so we could listen to their music while driving to the concert. I have always wanted to make a CD holder from paper and I found a few minutes in the day to make one. I must admit, I liked it and it was so easy to make! I must make more! I wanted to make Christmas CDs last year but never got around to it. Maybe this year, if I start now!
By the way, the concert was fantastic, my ears are still ringing!

Quick Lunch!

I am a big fan of fresh corn in the summer time! I use to hate boiling water and cooking just two or three pieces for lunch. A friend told me she microwaves corn. Really? I was skeptical to say the least. But I gave it a try, I am hooked! I can cook two pieces of corn wrapped in plastic wrap in just six minutes. It may not be the best way if you are cooking for a crowd, but for lunch it is ideal.

I admit I do not put butter on my corn. I like it with a little salt and lime.

Simply Delicious

I have been making these for over twenty years and believe me I never grow tired of them. I make them year round, even though I always think of strawberries as a summer fruit.
They are simply delicious!

Bookmarkers

I finished my little project, they are bookmarks. I have saved so many creative ideas, that I decided it was time to sit down an make a few things.

I had to cut out a few triangles before I got the perfect size. Much to my amazement the first bookmark fit perfectly in the corner of the page. I made the second one and it was a another perfect fit! That does not usually happen, my first patterns usually end up in the trash. I like a positive start!

I like that they are fast to make and the mess is quite small. I already gave one to a friend, that is going to the beach for a week and plans on doing a lot of reading. I gave her the green one with the sea shell.

I love the colors in this marker. I love red, yellow and blue together. I think I should use them more often.
I hope these can inspire me to make more things. I miss getting up in the morning and turning on my computer to see if I have any comments.

Warmer Weather

I am happy to report that warmer weather has finally made an appearance in Rhode Island. That means I can sit by the pool or in a comfy chair on the deck and read. I must say I do judge a book by it's cover. I love fireflies and the beach so I took a chance. The story takes place in New England also a plus.

I also started a small project today. Nothing big, it felt good to start working with paper again. The mess I can do without. I am happy to report that I have already put everything away. I can not let this hobby of mine take over my kitchen counter.

Hopefully, I will have a few finished by Friday.
Hope to see you then.

Celebrate

I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July. It is one of my favorite holidays.
I took this picture around dusk, I hope you can see the twinkle lights in the greenery, I love them. I can see the lights from my living room window at night. It makes me happy to see them when I am watching television reading or doing the dishes! You know it is the little things!
I am still not feeling that creative, but I had to wish everyone a Happy 4th!
