Keeping Busy

I bought these pretty green napkins at Walmart last week. I knew I wanted to add a little something to them, but I wasn't quite sure what. I also wanted something creative to do while watching television. Still only 24 hours in a day.

I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I usually run out of steam after fixing supper, washing the dishes and doing whatever else has to be done for the next day. That usually means I am finally finished in the kitchen about 7:30. So, embroidery is something I can do while watching television. It is not that I want to watch television, but it is dark and cold outside! I just do not have too many other options! I am usually happy to be sitting around 8 o'clock, in the evening I just wish it was outside on my porch swing with an nice cold beverage.

My grandmother liked to do a lot of embroidering. I know I get my love for needlework and detail from her. I remember as a young girl always showing her what I was making. It all started with hand sewing clothes for my Barbies! How funny is that? I have had a very busy week and have been neglecting many of my favorite blogs. Hopefully, tonight I will find sometime to visit. As you can see in the pictures, I do not have an embroidery hoop. I will have to start this project tomorrow.
Thanks for visiting!

I think watching TV and doing a little stitching is such a cozy thing to do. Perfect for a dark and chilly evening!

I too, after supper like to sit down with a project to do. It allows me to sit in the same room with DH while he's watching tv instead of me going off into another room just to watch tv. (He likes to watch stuff that is usually totally boring to me).

Can't wait to see what your finished project looks like.

Take Care,
Debbie

Hand embroidery they will be beautiful. I have done some hand embroidery years ago but most of my embroidery is done by machine now.

Those are sure to be beautiful when finished and I hope you will share a picture. I have been trying to learn and have gathered all the supplies, thanks to my Aunt. I haven't been still long enough yet to learn. I tried and used all five strings, instead of only a couple. Duh! I know nothing about it, but I love it.
Best of luck with those.

I have not stitched in ages, but I also found it relaxing while watching TV, keeps my hands busy.

Oh, what gorgeous colors you've chosen! I saw a package of white napkins somewhere recently that this would be gorgeous for ...I have a niece getting married in June, I should try embroidering her some of these, she loves anything vintage, and these will for sure look vintage! GORGEOUS! Love your blog! If you don't mind, I'm going to stay and look in your archives!
