Inspiration

There is one magazine I buy every month, In Style. It is always full of fashion and beauty ideas. I guess coral and turquoise are the new colors of the season! I always mark the ideas I like, but seldom do I do anything with the them. Monday night while watching the Red Sox and reading In Style ( I like to blend fashion and sports) I noticed this cute red bag. It cost $78.oo
I am not going to spend $78.oo on a summer bag. Jo Ann's has a good selection of upholstery fabric so Tuesday I penciled in a trip to Jo Ann's. I purchased a 1/2 yard of fabric, 2 yards of jute rope and 8 pom-poms. I used pom-poms instead of tassels, I think they are so cute. It took about an hour and half to make a pattern and sew the bag. I like it , but I think I will make a larger version. I am a big bag girl!

Hello Sunshine

Finally, the weather has become more to my liking. We are going to have a beautiful weekend here in Rhode Island. I planted these flowers last Saturday and today I put in the solar light and American flag. I wish this picture could show how really pretty this area is. I took 20 pictures and this was the best. Could it be too bright? The sun is out so I am not going to complain about the quality of my pictures. But there are a lot of yellow pansies , please use your imagination!

Whimsical Birds

A friend sent me this plant a few weeks ago, I am surprised that it is still green and growing. I don't have much luck with indoor plants.

On Monday I went to a local library where another friend works, she told me they do paper crafts classes. I thought I would go see what they had to offer. What I noticed when I walked in were all these pretty paper birds hanging from the ceiling. You know me and paper birds.

I just loved the tails and the wings. She told me they got the pattern from http://www.joann.com/ and they were very easy to make.

I made two the other night. I finished the first one and looked at it for a few minutes. Something was just not quite right. I stuck it in the pot and I was still thinking, this bird is okay, why did I want to make them so badly. Then I realized I did not make the tail. The tail is what makes them so whimsical. I see a few more in my future.

Pale Green

As you can see I decided to use the pale green fabric. I made a cell phone holder, checkbook holder and a new notebook. I still want to make a tissue holder and maybe a key chain. I may use the red print for them. I hope to make them later this week.

I love how they came out, so bright and cheery! The last few weeks in Rhode Island have been to say the least gloomy. I can not take another dark rainy day!

I seldom write checks anymore, but I still carry my checks in my pocketbook. I should make a few of these for gifts. They are fun to make!

I always use a cell phone holder, it make it so easy to find my phone. I like the way this one came out, so does my daughter she already put a request in for one.

Red Bag

Friday, I went out with a friend to do a little shopping and get a bite to eat. I bought this cute bag. Well, I think it is cute. It is bigger than it looks in the picture. It gives me hope that warmer weather is around the corner. I have said before I am a jeans and t shirt girl at heart. I can see myself wearing this with jean capri's, a white shirt, flip flops and silver jewelry.

Today, I took a ride to Jo Ann's to look at fabric. I want to make a new checkbook cover and a tissue holder to keep in my new summer bag. I am not sure what fabric I am going to use just yet. The solid red I am going to use as lining. The other two prints are so summery. I may have to use both! Mother Nature if you by chance read this blog, send warmer weather my way.

Pretty Polka Dotted Pots

I told you I bought too many pansies for Easter. So off I went to the garden shop to buy more pots. These are painted a deep chocolate brown with off white dots. I wish the colors photographed better, but it was early when I took these pictures and our house is surrounded by very tall trees. Ther is not much sunlight on this side of the house in the morning.

I had to do a little paper crafting. It felt good to get the old glue gun out again. I even papered the birdhouse.

I very seldom see a rooster plate I don't want to buy. I bought two yesterday at Marshalls for $2.oo each. Now, I think the window needs a new curtain. I am thinking black and tan fabric would be just right. I see a trip to Jo Ann's in my future. The weather is going to be warm for the next few days so I also see another trip to the garden shop.

It won't be long Now

I still don't feel like being creative. I know I will, but right now looking out my door and seeing this image would make me a little happier. I took this picture last year in late May, when my deck was looking much better than it does right now. I don't want to be too eager and buy plants before the last chance of frost. In New England the nights can still get quite cool. I hope to get out the chair cushions tomorrow and also put up the umbrella. I may take a drive to the local nursery and see what is safe to plant. I am looking forward to sitting on the swing with a good summer read and a cold glass of something!

Pansies for Easter

One down three to go. I plan to give these out for Easter. I bought way too many pansies for the pots I painted. I guess that means I have to buy a few more pots. I love polka dots, who doesn't!

Believe

I believe that someday I will feel like myself again, I'm just not sure when. But for now, I need to be busy, keep my mind occupied. I always feel better when I am creating something. Yesterday, I noticed that pansies were out at our local garden shop. Purple pansies are one of my favorite flowers. They look so delicate, but they are one of the first spring plants available here in New England. Today, I bought a few clay pots to paint. Hopefully, they will be painted and have pansies in them in time for Easter Sunday. I am sure my Mom will like them. I hope I can get them done.

Michael

This is a picture of my younger brother Michael. He loved his Harley! We loved him! Actually a lot of people loved him, over 600 people came to pay their respects last Tuesday. I would give anything to have him back, but it doesn't work that way. The hurt is deep and my heart aches. He loved riding his Harley, fishing, cooking, shopping and he was an all around good guy. He was called gentle, respectful, funny and always there when you needed a helping hand. Many tears have been shed and hearts are still aching. We have lost a good man.
