I gave it my best shot!

Sneak peek at what I worked on this afternoon.

I actually wanted to make a few cards using all the little do-dads I bought at Michael's on Monday. Cards, more cards? Why not try and do something from this book I got for Christmas.
Why not?

I could give it a try. I covered a small box with pieces of paper. I am not a painter. I don't even have the right brushes (I so wish I had after I started this). I have not painted anything other than snowmen in years, carrots noses and black dotted eyes are my speciality. I can draw a little, very little. But, I had the entire afternoon.

I glued the pieces of paper down with Mod Podge and distressed it a bit.
Nothing too complicated yet and I actually like it.

I found something in the book for inspiration.
As I said I can draw a little. Then I just paint within the lines.
It is all the little details and faces that stop me in my tracks.
It all went smoothly until I had to give this girl a face.

I repainted her eyes ten times! I almost gave up after the sixth try, the next step would be the garbage. But, I tried again. The nose just happened to look good on the first try.
Lips are not easy for me either. What I liked about this little project is that distressing is very important! I think I should take an art class to learn how to draw faces or at least look online for some helpful hints.

Thanks for visiting!
Have a wonderful weekend!

But drawing faces IS hard and I think that you're being much, MUCH too hard on yourself. I really think that she's pretty - the whole project is pretty! Love it!

In fact, I just love all your projects! Love seeing those home improvements, too. dining room is gorgeous!

Many Blessings,
Julie

I like her face. I think you did a good job. The best way to improve is to just keep trying and before you know it, it will be a piece of cake. You have a lot of talent, don't discount yourself.

She looks adorable! And yeah, faces are hard, but I think this turned out really great! And kudos for trying something new...I need to do the same.
